PORT CHALMERS NEWS
MODEL YACHTING , The model yacht and dinghy races held at Mussel Bay two weeks ago proved so successful’ that the Port Chalmers Yacht and Motor Boat Club has decided to hold a similar afternoon’s racing on Saturday. At the last afternoon’s sailing an interesting craft present was a model motor ship which, although only about three feet in length, had sufficient power to tow a small boat containing two people. The owner of the model (Mr S. Gray) has been tijanked by the committee of the Yacht Club for placing his craft on exhibition, and has been advised that a reappearance of the power model would be welcomed at future club fixtures. FISHING FLEE? HANDICAPPED The Port Chalmers fishing fleet has been handicapped during the past few days on account of fog at the Heads. Favourable weather has prevailed outside the harbour, but the land has been obscured at times by the fog, and a shore bearing for the usual fishing areas has not been discernible. During the week one of the largo trawlers lost lier trawl on a bad section of the sea bottom, and the trawl of another boat was extensively torn. A number of the trawlers were at the Heads yesterday morning, but only one or two ventured outside, as there were of fog along the coastline.
