OROKONUI HOME

VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT The patients at Orokpnui Home, Waitati, were favoured with a treat on Tuesday evening when Mr H. P. Desmoulins with the Dunedin Glee Singers and the St. Andrew’s Dramatic Club motored from Dunedin and submitted an entertaining programme. The following items were contributed by the Glee Singers:—“Now is the Month of Maying,” “Sweet and Low,” “ Summer is a-eoming In,” “ With Jockey to the Fair,” “ Drink to me Only,” “ Old Mother Hubbard,” “ Roses of Picardy,” “ It Was a Lover and His Lass,” “The Ash Grove,” “Nymphs and Shepherds,” “ Eriskay Love’Lilt,” “Smilin’ Thru’,” “Gipsy Love Song,” “ Uncle Ned,” “Widdicoinbe Fair.” Recitations which were well received were given by Miss F. Lennox and Mr Dali. The St. Andrew’s Dramatic Club staged with excellent effect and to the merriment of the audience the mystery play “ Scraps." Mr R. Syder introduced the concert party, and at the close Dr Bowell, the resident doctor, on behalf of the home, thanked Mr Desmoulins and the performers for the enjoyable evening they had given, and Air A. Steven expressed the thanks of the Patients and Prisoners’ Aid Society, under whose auspices the concert had been given. Mr Desmoulins responded on behalf of the party.
