Mr W. S. Fogg, of Dunedin, has received advice that he has been successful in passing his M.D. degree. Mr J. S. Douglas returned to Dunedin last evening after attending a meeting of the Plumbers’ Board at Wellington. / On Thursday afternoon the staff of the Milburn Lime and Cement Company., Ltd., gathered in the board room to bid farewell to Mr P. J. Leadbeater on the occasion of his retirement, through ill-health. In presenting Mr Leadbeater with a handsome set of cutlery, Mr J. H. Stewart (general manager) spoke in eulogistic terms of Mr Leadbeater’s services !io the company, and wished him many years of retirement. Mr W.,W. Mackersy (assistant manager) also referred to the happy relations during his 25 years of service. Mr Leadbeater feelingly replied, after which afternoon tea was served. . Dr and Mrs G. R. Kingston, of Timaru, are now in London. Dr Kingston passed the examination for the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons while at Edinburgh. ■ ■ , Arrangements for the dispostion of tne staff of the Auckland Training College while it is closed next year have been made by the Education Department. Mr D. M. Rae, principal (says a Press Association telegram), will act as inspector of schools, and Mr F. C. Lopdell, viceprincipal, as temporary inspector of schools, both with headquarters at Auckland; Two of . the staff will be att ached to the University College, one to the Auckland Museum, and the others are given various duties in secondary or primary schools. •
