ASTRONOMICAL NOTES FOR DECEMBER

THE SUN-. The sun’s path during the month of December will be in R.A. from 16.26.26 to 18.38.38, in south declination from 21.42.31 to 23.9.9, and in longitude from 248.20.44 to 278.51.40. The summer solstice occurs on the 22nd. THE MOON. The phases of the moon will be as under:— Full moon, 2nd, 1.31 p.ra. Last quarter, 10th, 6.24 p.m. New moon, 17th, 2.53 p.m. First quarter, 24th, 8.9 a.m. Apogee, stb, 1.18 a.m. Perigee, 18th. 0.6 a.m. THE PLANETS. Mercury will be in R.A. from 15.10.1 to 17.48.4, and in south declination from 15.1.58 to 24.0.32. It will be at its greatest elongation on the 6th, and in conjunction with the moon on the 15th. Venus will be in R.A. from 19.52.2 to 21.26.41, and in south declination from 23.52.41 to 14.57.2. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the 20th, and with Saturn on the 21st. Mars will be in R.A. from 18.39.9 to 20.19.7, and in south declination from 24.16.58 to 20.47.23. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the 18th. Jupiter will be in R.A. from 13.3.27 to 13.19.30, and in south declination from 5.28.37 to 7.0.33. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the 12th. Saturn will be in R.A. from 20.57.9 to 21.8.10, and in south declination from 18.14.45 to 17.28.4. It will be in conjunction with the moon on the 20th.
