WAIKOUAITI NOTES
(From Opr Own Correspondent.) WAIKOUAITI, November 30. BOWLING. Waikouaiti and Seacliff Bowling Clubs played a game at Waikouaiti last night, the local men gaining a victory by 07 to 50. Results (Seacliff names first): — Edmensen, Dixon, Martin, Hanson 11, Carson, Aitcheson, Davis, Mudge 25; M’Arthur, Riourden, Stevens, Allison 17, Fell, Griffiths, Heckler, Stewart 25, Baizin, Duncan, Miller, Oxley 22, Malloch, Templeton, Lang, Patterson 17. Mi’s William Hallum, jun., won the table centre raffled by the Ladies’ Bowling Club. SHOW JUDGES. The judges for the coming A. and P. Society’s show are:—Ayrshire cattle, Mr C. Cowan (Kia Ora); Friesian, Mr E. M. North (Omimi); Jerseys, Mr Maddren (Winchester); Shorthorn and crossbred cattle, Mr J. M’Gregor (North-East Valley); draught horses, Mr John B. Blair (Outran)); light horses, Mr W. Bourne (Fairlie); harness horses and ponies, Mr P. M‘Caw (Dunedin); Border Leicester and Romney sheep, Mr G. Ross (Palmerston): Corriedalcs and Southdowns, Mr F, Glover (Middlemarch); dogs, Mr D. Ross (Palmerston); butter and baking, Mrs M’Millan (Herbert); flowers, Mrs Hill (Herbert); vegetables, Mr Woodley (Hampden). RABBIT DESTRUCTION. A conference between representatives of the Stock Department, Unemployment Board, County Council, and rabbit committees was held at Waikouaiti last night. The object of the meeting was to formulate an even scheme of working in the county, the payment of the rabbiting gangs, and some form of contribution from the farmers who are to benefit by the work. After considerable discussion these details weer satisfactorily arranged. Mr A. W. Douglass was chairman of the meeting.
