SUNDAY SCHOOL ANNIVERSARY. Last week-end Major and Mrs Boar conducted the Roslyn Salvation Army young people’s anniversary. Two company songs were sung by the children at the morning service, while in the afternoon at 3 p.m. the primary and beginners’ departments occupied the platform and gave a number of pleasing items to the parents and friends who gathered. Prizes were presented to those children as well as to the Cradle Roll babies, Nancy Bell being dux of the primary and Olive and Margaret Kermode second. At the evening meeting a special item, “ The Wheel of Life,’ was given, as well as several company songs. On Monday night an enjoyable programme was rendered by the children, when the following items were given: Company song, “ Forward Children ” ; prayer song, “ Purer in Heart,” and prayer; united Bible recitation, “Rejoice in God ” ; lullaby, “ Dolly Dear, Goodnight,” primary girls; recitation, “Nicholas Nye,” Charles Bell; character song, “ Rheumatiz,” girls; recitation, “Ten of Them,” Margaret Kermode; scene, “Lights Out,” boys; solo, “The Abiding Presence,” Hilda Scott; character song, “Spiritual Gardens,” girls; recitation, “Three Little Fish,” Margaret Smith; solo, “Beauteous Roses,” Kathleen Millar; “The Children’s Thanks to the Eternal Child ” ; recitation, “ The Boatmen of the Downs,” James Barr; company song, “Sweet Bird” ; recitation, “Broke Now,” Jessie Walker; dialogue, “Great Snakes”; character recitation, “ Starlight and Sunshine,” K. Miller and O. Kermode; “Building a Fence,” primary children; character recitation, “ Mary of Magdala,” Margaret Stanaway; company song, “He Sends the Rainbow.” Major Bear presented the prizes to the senior departments during the evening. Evelyn Stanaway was dux, Frank Stanaway top of the boys, and Charles Bell second, while Margaret Stanaway took second place in the girls.
