NO ABATEMENT OF FERMENT AN ARCHBISHOP RESIGNS. BERLIN, November 26. Archbishop Schoeffol has resigned from the ecclesiastical ministry because his" nominee was not appointed a member of the church cabinet, ns Bishop Hosscnfclder promised. There is no sigu of abatement of the religious ferment. The Roman Catholics took the unprecedented step of announcing their solidarity. Many non-Nazi bishops made pulpit references to “ our Catholic brothers.” THE SCHISM SPREADING. BERLIN, November 26. The schism in the German Christian movement is spreading. It includes the Bavarian section, all the Pomeranian clergy, 1100 of 1200 Wurtemburg pastors, while the Thuringians have abjured Bishop Hossenfcldcr's leadership. Laymen have formed a society similar to the Pastors’ Emergency League to protect the Bible. Bishop Hosscnfclder compelled Archbishop Schoeffel, of Hamburg, to resign in favour of Bishop Coch, of Saxony, who insists on separate churches for Christianised Jews.
