SCULLING PEARCE NOT RECOGNISED CHAMPION. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph —Copyright.) HAMILTON (Ontario), November 24, Bobby Pearce, who defeated Phelps at Toronto, in September, announced to-day that he had been notified by the British Sculling Board of Control that he was not the recognised champion because the Toronto race was not staged under conditions approved by the board. - The Sculling Board of Control claimed that Pearce had not posted the £4OO deposit; that the conditions had not been approved; and that the referee*had not been named by the board. Immediately on receipt of the • board's letter 1 earce announced that he was, ready to meet any sculler named by the board on the lhames at any distance. , BOXING CHOCOLATE KNOCKED OUT. (Received Nov. 26, at 6.30 p.m.) In one of the most sensational lightweight bouts for years, Tony a former title holder, knocked out Kid Chocolate, the Cuban, after two minutes 30 seconds of the second round of the scheduled 10-round fight. It was Chocolate’s first knockout in 211 bouts. Ihe defeat resulted from a terrific righthanded blow to the chin by Cnnzonen. Chocolate desperately attempted to rise on the counts of eight and nine, but Ins senses were numbed, and be fell back helplessly. Cnnzoneri weighed 1331 b, and Chocolate 1301 b.
