MILITARY CARNIVAL
' AH ATTRACTIVE PROGRAMME. -The military carnival which is at present being held at the Central Battery at St. Hilda attracted another large crowd on Saturday evening, and during the afternoon the attendance was also good. An attractive programme ot amusements and novelties was presented, and the various stalls and side-shows were well patronised. In the afternoon a special effort was made to cater for the younger fry, and the lure of special competitions and feats of skill for the children drew a large crowd of email boys and girls to the carnival ground. The feature of the evening’s programme was the spectacular night attack by the artillery. This was admirably staged, and was enthusiastically received by the large crowd which witnessed it. The attack and the air raid were both realistically presented, and excellent effect ’was given to the proceedings by the highly successful attempts of the attackers to make a» much noise as possible. The carnival will be continued during the coming week, and each night special programmes entirely new in respect to the main features will bo presented, to-night s feature being an attack by Indians.
