There are still Knights of the Round Table in King Arthur’s country. At Tintagel, Cornwall, which is supposed to be the birthplace of Arthur, the building of a new Hall of Chivalry of the Fellowship of the Knights of- King Arthur has lately been finished. The aim of the Order is personal service, and it is desired to revive the spirit of ( chivalry in the world of to-day. There is a kindred association, the Knights of King Arthur of the United States, in America. Although Cornwall is rich n Arthurian traditions, the main storehouse of the Round Table legends, Malory’s ‘‘ Morte d’Arthur,” is not very kind to Cornish knights, and King Mark of Cornwall cuts a sorry figure in the old stories.

Guarded day and night, an old painting bought by a Bradford man, and lately on view at a Middleshorough art .exhibition, is believed to be worth a fortune. It is owned by Mr George Baxter, a retired wool merchant, who now lives at Rosedale Abbey. He bought the canvas from a man who made his fortune in a South African gold rush, and who later toured Italy,' studying and collecting art treasures. The picture was then very dirty, and it took a lot of careful work to restore it and reveal the work in detail. It depicts Christ carrying the cross, and experts to whom the picture has been submitted say that it was painted by the Italian master, Sebastiano del Piombo, about 400 years ago.
