' GIRL ELECTROCUTED. . LONDON, November 24. (Received Nov. 25, at 5 p.m.) A verdict of “ Accidental death by electrocution,” due to defective hairdressing, apparatus, was recorded at the inquest on Hales Owen, of Worcestershire, a 10-year-old girlj who was receiving a permanent wave. ABSENT FROM REGIMENT. LONDON, November 24. (Received Nov. 25, at 5 p.m.) A Scots Guardsman, Albert Lorrimer, who walked from Loudon to Aberdeen to fetch a uniform to save the cost of postage, was court-martialled at Chelsea to-day on charge of absence from his regiment. Lorrimer explained that when he returned to London after his leave at Aberdeen he decided not to rejoin the regiment, but realised that he had left his uniform behind. : He walked to Aberdeen to fetch it as he possessed only nine shillings. Asked why he did not request that the uniform should be posted, Lorrimer said he thought it would be cheaper to do the walk, which occupied • four weeks, after which he surrendered. Thc‘ court’s finding will be promulgated. PRINCE GEORGE. LONDON, November 24. (Received Nov. 25, at 5.5 p.m.) Prince George, with the approval of tile King, has accepted a Portuguese invitation to pass through Angola on bis way back to England from Africa and to attend an official reception there. M. AVENOL AND SIGNOR MUSSOLINI. ROME, Novcjnber 24. (Received Nov. 25, at 5 p.m.) - M. Avenol had a 50-minutes conversation with Signor Mussolini. It is significant that he is staying in Rome over Sunday instead of going to Geneva tonight. TEMPLE RAIDED. CALCUTTA, November 25. (Received Nov, 26, at 6.30 p.m.) Burglars raided the famous Temple of. Dakshineswar, on the Hooghly, near Calcutta. and stripped from the idol Kali, the Hindu goddess of destruction, jewels worth nearly £BOOO, including a diamondstudded crown, a pearl necklace, and a number of gold ornaments. OXFORD UNIVERSITY. LONDON, November 25. (Received Nov. 26, at 6.30 p.m.) ■ Lord Irwin has been elected chancellor of Oxford University. POWERHOUSE BOMBED. BARCELONA, November 25. (Received Nov. 26. at 6.30 p.m.) A powerhouse was bombed and destroyed, and three transformers were blown up, at Badalona, rendering 1600 factory hands idle.
