VICTORIAN CHAMPIONSHIPS MELBOURNE, November 25. In the Doubles semi-final Hughes and Lee defeated Quist and Turnbull 9—7, 57, 6—l, 3—6, (i—4. PERRY DEFEATS CRAWFORD. MELBOURNE, November 26. (Received Nov. 26, at 6.30 p.m.) In the final of the Singles, Perry defeated Crawford, 6—4, 2—6, 6—4, 6—3. A huge crowd witnessed magnificent tennis by the world’s best singles players. This is Perry’s fourth win over Crawford in five matches in the past two years. The critics declare that Perry’s victory was due to greater accuracy and ability to take command of the rallies on Crawford’S service. Norman Brookes, the ex-international player, expressed the opinion that Crawford should have played with more aggression. He added: “ Perry is to-day the world’s champion.” Gerald Patterson said: “ Crawford made more errors than usual. Perry played the waiting game successfully.” Other results arc: — Doubles final: Crawford and Hopman beat Hughes and Lee, B—6, 6—2, 6 —3. Women’s Singles final: Miss J. Hartigan beat Miss Chitty, 4 —6, 6 —4, 7—-5. Mixed Doubles Championship, semifinals: A. Willard and Miss Hartigan defeated Turnbull and Miss le Messurier, 6 2, 7—5; final, Crawford and Mrs Crawford boat Willard and Miss Hartigan, 6—2, 6—3.
