FOX FILM CIRCUIT

A THOUSAND KINEMA HOUSES A WITNESS’S ALLEGATIONS. WASHINGTON, November 24. (Received Nov. 25, at 5 p.m.) Mr William Fox to-day testified that the Hoover Administration attempted to arrange to prevent the receivership of his vast theatre enterprise, comprising 1000 kinema houses, only to be rebuffed by Mr Wiggin, who'was then chairman. Mr Fox quoted Mr Wiggin as stating: «Tell the President to mind his own business,” when Mr Claudius Huston, chairman of the Republican National Committee, approached Mr Wiggin for a loan on behalf of Mr Fox to save the corporation, whose assets were at that time 300,000,000 dollars. Something of a burlesque nature entered the proceedings when Mr Fox, referring to the bankers whose aid he solicited, stated: “Bear in mind these men in 1929 were all mighty. They were not working under the regime we are working under now. There was no new deal then. Common people were just people then.”
