VARIETY ENTERTAINMENT

That Miss Anita Winkel is fully qualified to instruct pupila in the art of performing in public is fully borne out by the fact that she has appeared with distinction in many locally-produced plays. The appearance, therefore, of her pupils at a recital in the Concert Chamber next Saturday night should occasion considerable interest, and it is safe to assume that there will be a full patronage. Every _ phase of the work taught by Misg Winkel is to be demonstrated in a programme that has been -carefully planned to embrace as wide a variety of items as possible. At the beginning of the year Miss Winkel organised a juvenile choir, the work of which can now bear _ favourable comparison with adult combinations. This choir will make its debut at_ the concert in three part songs for children’s voices. Other children’s items will include solos, duets, and trios, and .spectacular ballets, under the direction of Miss Rosetta Powell, will add to the diversity of the enter imminent. Misses Daphne Murdoch, .Norma Brown, Gwen Smith, Molly Baker, and others are billed to give various numbers, and Messrs A. M’Dowell and Roy Herbert will be responsible for elocutionary turns. Accompaniments will be played by an efficient orchestra, under the direction of Miss Sybil Baker. The box plans will be open at the D.I.C. on Monday.
