“CAMPING DAYS”

So successful were the first two nights of the presentation by pupils of the King Edward ‘Technical College of the charming operetta, “Camping Days,’ that n further performance was given in Burt Hall last nght, when there was another large and enthusiastic audience. Under the direction of Mr T. Vernon Griffiths, by whom the words and music were written, the children interpreted their parts in a surprisingly able manner, and gave a thoroughly enjoyable performance. The play deals with the members of a boy’s camp who are somewhat disconcerted to find that a party of girls intend to camp nearby. This produces a piquant enough situation, but when several gypsies appear on the scene further complications are introduced, and an engaging story is worked out to its conclusion. One of the most attractive features of “ Camping Days was the brightness of the choruses, which were exceedingly well rendered, and the dialogue was also of the_ most commendable nature. The children worked in well together, and those responsible for the principal parts are to be complimented on the competence of their acting. The incidental music, provided by the School Band, added considerably to the enjoyment of the performance. Taken all round the operetta was a distinct credit to the college and to Mr Griffiths, whose tuition and guidance were evident throughout.
