(Pee United Peess Association.) AUCKLAND, November 3. Although it was an off morning several horses were galloped on No. 2 grass track at Ellershe to-day. The weather was fine and the going good, but there w r as a strong wind blowing down the straight. . , , , Riotous worked over six furlongs, and, going comfortably, ran the distance in Imin 23 3-ssec. Star Artist came home from the three-furlong post in 40 3-osec, doing it easily. Senegal finished up his work with an easy three furlongs in 43 l-ssec. Carfex was given strong work on the sand. He has done particularly well during the past week, and is expected to run a great race to-morrow. King’s Archer went freely over hye furlongs, running the_ first two in 25 2-ssee, and completing his task in Imin 3 3-ssee. He put plenty of dash into his work. After commencing slowly over a round Aga Khan covered his la_st six furlongs in imin 22 l-ssec. Royal Artist also did strong work, finishing up by running six furlongs in Imin 18 3-ssec. this horse looks in frrst~i*cite condition* Whenuakura went away from the fivefurlong post, and though he was not intended to go fast, he ran his last three furlongs in 37 3-ssec. Gay Egypt reeled off three furlongs in 37sec. He has not done much since his racing at Pacroa, and looks rather big in condition. Prolyxp, who is looking well, strode over six furlongs in Imin 20 2-ssec. Psychologist shaped attractively over three furlongs in 30 3-ssec. Porotiti was not doing his best to accomplish the half-mile in 51 l-ssoe. All Humbug worked particularly well over a round, running the distance in Imin 44 3-ssec. the last seven furlongs taking Imin 32 2-ssec, and the final three furlongs 40scc. This was a good effort, and he was running on solidly at the finish. View Halloo did useful work, but was not out to make time. So far no definite arrangements have been made regarding a ruler for this horse in the Mitchelson Cup. However, now that Lord Val lias been scratched H. Wiggins will probably have the mount. Desert Star, who is looking well, worked soundly over a round, running home over the last three furlongs in 41sec. Count Lendroff, after running two furlongs in 25 3-ssec, completed five furlongs in Imin ssec, the last half-mile taking 50 4-ssec.

A. E. ELLIS'S APPEAL

SUSPENSION REDUCED. (Peb United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH^ November 3. In the appeal of A. E. Ellis, the jockey, against the decision of the Dunedin District Committee, the Racing Conference judges have reduced the penalty of two months’ suspension imposed on October 7 by the D.J.C. to one month. The judges state that mitigating circumstances in the case were apparently not fully given effect to by the Dunedin committee. Ellis will be able to ride at Riccarton on Wednesday.

AUCKLAND SCRATCHINGS
