CONCILIATION COUNCIL

AGREEMENT REACHED. A sitting of the Conciliation Council was held yesterday to deal with the appli. cation of the employers for a new award covering the wages and conditions of the shirt, white, and silk workers. The commissioner (Mr S. Ritchie) presided. The assessors for the employers were Messrs D. H. Blackie, G. P. Compton, and W. H. Wilson, and those for the respondent union were Misses M. Egan, J. Runciman, and C. Wilson. After discussion a complete agreement was reached, embodying the terms of the award which has been in existence since 1926. with the alteration in wages to bring it into line with the rates prevailing in the other clothing workers awards.
