TRADE RELATIONSHIP

NEW ZEALAND AND AMERICA AMBASSADOR FROM LOS ANGELES. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, November 3. “I will remain in New Zealand about one month and expect to confer with Government officials and business men concerning mutual trade,” said Mr J. David Larson, trade counsellor to the Los Angeles Chamber of Commerce, who arrived by the Monterey from Los Angeles.” We are seeking a number of your products, including butter, if some obstacles can be overcome. On the other hand if we have products which New Zealand seeks I will be glad to discuss them with those interested. Since my visit to New Zealand in April some improvement had been made in the commercial relationship of our two countries. A number of our Los Angeles manufacturers and distributors have been in touch with your business , institutions seeking to buy some of your products. We have had capable co-operation from your Department of Industries and Commerce. Both Governments have lifted embargoes which were detrimental to our mutual trade. While I. realise that we still have many commercial problems to overcome in the interests of better trade relationship, the problems can best be overcome by friendly contact and a better understanding of the problems. The visit of the Prime Minister of New Zealand (Mr G. W. Forbes) and his party to Los Angeles and California was appreciated, and we regret that the party did not have more time to meet more of our leaders. Mr Forbes’s visit to President Roosevelt was valuable in the creation of a better understanding between two peoples whose interests are identical.”
