Mr lan D. Cameron, mining engineer, left Auckland on Thursday for Sydney to take up a position in North-Western Australia. During his stay here he visited Central Otago, Reefton, and the Waihi goldfields. A Press Association telegram states that a member of the permanent secretariat of the League of Nations (Mr J. It. Chapman), formerly of the Customs Department, Wellington, arrived in Auckland yesterday on furlough. On his way to the Dominion he attended tjhe conference of the International Institute of Statistics at Mexico City, 48 countries being represented. Mr F. C. *Perrv f clerk of the Waitomo County Council, has been appointed New Zealand secretary of the mission to lepfers, in succession to the Rev. F. A. Crawshaw, of Palmerston North, who will leave for Australia shortly.. Mr Perry has had considerable experience of Christian work. He is president of the County Clerks’ Association. Messrs jEdward Morgan, of St. Bathana, and James Smith, of Greenfield, have been nominated for the vacancy on the Otago Education Board caused by tie ' death last month of Mr W. M. Matthew* son, of Kokonga. The poll will be c osed on November 23, and . the votes will be counted on December 8. At a special meeting of the Presbytery of Clutha arrangements were made for the ordination and induction of Mr Colin M‘Kenzie, licentiate, at Tuapeka Moutn on Wednesday, November 15. Mr M Kenzie completed his course of study at the Theological Hall, Knox College, this. year, and has been appointed to the parish of Clutha Valley in succession to the Rev, H. A. Mitchell, now of Roslyn. Information has been received that Mr A. 6. Reid, of Glenorchy, recently an engineering student at the Southland Technical College, has been awarded the , Durham Bursary for 1933 by the Junior Institution of Engineers (of Great Britain). Competition for the bursary is by the submission of a thesis on some engineering, technical, or scientific subject selected by the candidate. Candictates are required to be young men born of British parents in the British Isles or the Irish Free, State, New Zealand, Australia, or South Africa. They must be not less than 20 or more than 22 years of age. The value of the bursary is £2O in cash, with membership fees, etc., up to seven guineas. '
