THE ANGLICAN CHURCH

LEADERS’ SHORTCOMINGS LACK OF IMPLICIT GUIDANCE. LONDON, November 1. (Received Nov. 1, at 7 p.m.) The Rev. H. R. L. Sheppard, who was hon. chaplain to the King from 1912 to 1929, issued a stirring call to the Anglican community for 10,000 churchmen who are willing to walk with him to Lambeth Palace when the archbishops and bishops of the Empire meet next in order that “we may say in respect and passion how. deeply we feel their lack of implicit guidance.” Mr Sheppard adds that his protest “ is against the constant .injunction to be patient. Church people will remain crippled in face of the world’s need until a leader 'arises who can tell us what are the causes that must be fought for to death and what are mere trimmings of religion.”
