WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE. The following vessels were expected to be within range of the undermentioned wireless stations last night:— Auckland. —Aorangl, Golden Cross, Kallngo, Karetu, Melko Maru, Monterey, Monowal, Fort Alma, Rotorua, Tamaroa, Wairuna. Wellington.—Abaroa, Golden Cloud. Kla Ora, Mariposa, Matal, Niagara, Port Nicholson, Port Huon, Rangatlra, Rangltane, Rangltata, Remuera, South Sea, Tamahlne, Wahine. Awarua.— City of Singapore, Kartlgl, Makura, Maunganul, Walhemo, Waikoualtl, Walnul, Wyatt Earp. , The Gale, which arrfved yesterday from Lyttelton, sailed last evening for Tlmaru and Lytteton to complete loading for Wellington, Plcton, and Wanganui. The Wlngatul, which arrived yesterday from Auckland, via ports, will sail to-day for Bluff. She will return to this port on Sunday and load out on Monday for Tlmaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. The motor vessel Holmglen Is now expected at Dunedin on Sunday from Wellington. She will load general cargo on Monday and sail the same day for Wanganui, New Plymouth, and Port Waikato, via ports. The motor vessel Port Waikato Is due at Dunadln to-day from Australia, via Lyttelton and Bluff, to discharge hardwood poles and load general cargo. She Is timed to sail this evening for Tauranga, Auckland, and Whangarei, via ports. * The Walplata Is to leave Auckland to-day with general cargo for discharge at Wellington, Lyttelton, Dunedin and Bluff. She Is due at Dunedin on November 8. The Union Company advises that the Totara Is due at Dunedin on Monday morning from Westport to 'discharge coal and load general cargo. She Is timed to'sail on Monday evening for Tlmaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and New Plymouth. , r , The Tltokl Is due at Dunedin on Monday morning from Wellington to load general cargo. She will sail on Tuesday for Napier, Gisborne, and Tauranga, via ports. The Storm has been fixed to load at Dunedin on Monday for Tlmaru, Lyttelton, Wellington and Wanganui. BENREOCH CHARTERED. The British steamer Benreoch, 5818 tons, has been chartered K> load wool and general cargo at New Zealand ports In December for the United Kingdom or the Continent.

PORT HUON DUE TO-MORROW. In continuation of her voyage from London, the C. and D. Line’s motor ship Port Huon left Auckland on Wednesday evening for this port. She is expected to arrive to-morrow morning, and will berth at the Victoria wharf, where the local portion of her Home cargo will be discharged. HARDWOOD FROM BUNBURY. The Japanese steamer Meika Maru left Manila early in September for Bunbury to load jarrah for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin. After discharge she will load scrap metal, the sixth consignment this year, for Japan. OCEANIC LINER MONTEREY. The Oceanic Company’s liner Monterey, from San Francisco and Los Angeles, via ports, is due at Auckland to-day. She will leave the northern port this evening for Sydney and Melbourne. CANONESA LEAVES LONDON. The Canonesa sailed from London on October 28 in ballast to load at New Zealand ports. She is coming via Panama, and will arrive about December 9. No ports have as yet been allotted to her. TUSCAN STAR’S LOADING PORTS. The Blue Star liner Tuscan Star, which is en route from England to New Zealand in ballast, is scheduled to load at Auckland for Great Britain from November 17 .to November 21. Her other loading ports are Napier, Wanganui and Wellington. She is scheduled to clear Wellington on December 2 for London. PORT DENISON TO LOAD. The Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Denison, which left London on October 17, will discharge her cargo at Australian and Tasmanian ports. Afterwards the vessel will come to New Zealand to load for Great Britain. PASSENGERS BY PORT HUON. The Port Huon, which arrived at Auckland on October 29 from London, brought the following passengers:—Miss M. Young, Mr and Mrs E. Collie. Mrs M. Rooff, Miss H. London, Mrs M. Roberts, Mr and Mrs G. C. Wall. Dr L. H. Cordery was ship’s surgeon for the voyage and Dr H. L. Gould was assistant surgeon. RUAHINE LEAVES COLON. Advice received by the New Zealand Shipping Company states that the Ruahine, en route from New Zealand to London, sailed from Colon on October 30. The vessel left Auckland on October 7. CUMBERLAND DUE ON SUNDAY. The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Cumberland, from Liverpool, via northern ports, is expected to arrive at this port on Sunday. She has a large quantity of Home cargo for discharge. PASSENGERS BY THE MAUNGANUI. The Norfolk, at present en route to New Zealand In ballast, is announced to take the west coast loadings formerly scheduled to be taken by the Rotorua. The Norfolk will commence loading at Wellington on November 29. She will complete at Gisborne, Auckland, and Napier, sailing finally on December 16 for London and west coast ports. The Rotorua, under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company, will commence loading after completion of discharge at Timaru about November 27. She will complete at Lyttelton, Napier, Wellington and Auckland, sailing finally on December 15 for London, via Panama and Curacao. She is due at London on January 24. PERSONAL ITEMS. Captain C. B. Lamb retains command of the Rotorua, at present en route from Liverpool to Auckland. Dr F. L. M’Laughlln is medical officer. Captain A. 3. Dalgliesh is in command of the Kaimiro, which recommissioned at Wellington on Monday after overhaul. Mr T. J. Shepley, formerly chief engineer of the Aberdeen and Commonwealth Line freighter Fordsdale, who reached Sydney by the Hobsons Bay, has just completed his first voyage as a passenger, and he does not like it. After 48 years at sea he could not accustom himself to doing nothing, and he felt an almost irresistible urge to don overalls and take his watch in the engine-room. A native, of South Australia, Mr Shepley joined the Adelaide Steamship Company, Ltd., at the age of 22, and spent 16 years in the Australian coastal service. In 1914 he was appointed chief engineer of the ex-German steamer Bakara, which was turned into a troopship. Mr Shepley remained chief engineer of the vessel until 1923. He was thus connected with the Australian Commonwealth Line at its inception. In 1924 ho supervised the installation of machinery In the Fordsdale and Ferndale. He was appointed chief engineer of the Fordsdale and remained in that post until September. -Mr Shepley will bo 70 years of age this month. PASSENGERS BY THE AORANGI. The R.M.M.S.
