- NEW YORK’S FINANCES PUBLIC SERVANTS PAID. NEW YORK. October 31. (Received Nov. 1, at 8 p.m.) t. The city was once again saved from acute financial, embarrassment and inability to meet the city pay rolls, when backers under the financing agreement to-day put 25,000,000 dollars at the comptrollers’ disposal. 1 Thirty-seven banks supplied the money at 4 per cent., preventing the non-payment of teachers, hospital staffs, and police, who have recently been more than once faced by tmpty city coffers.
