THE NEW ZEALAND LEGION
. TO THE EDITOR Sir, —“ Omega ” has joined the critical ranks of his neighbours, Dr M'Millan and “ Inquirer,” In his effusion of this morning he makes two points. Ofie is that as the legion is not opposed to the Central Bank it must be for it. Have we not already made it clear that the legion as a whole claims neither to support nor to oppose this scheme? True, the legion is encouraging its members, and the public as a whole, to study these and other matters. But its policy is confined to that which has been explained from platform and press for the .last eight months, but which “ Omega ” apparently chooses to ignore. “ Omega’s ” second point is a witty comparison of the legion’s proposal for a free Government with the present Coalition. There is, 'of course, no difference whatsoever between a member elected to Parliament to act according to his own free judgment, after hearing the arguments put forward, and a member elected to act as a certain other member—in this case Mr Forbes—thinks fit. At least, this appears to be “ Omega’s ” creed. —We are, etc., New Zealand Legion (Otago Division). «
