COACHING ATHLETES

OTAGO CENTRE’S SCHEME. Last evening some 30 or 40 athletes assembled at the Caledonian Ground for the second series of coaching demonstrations arranged by the Otago Athletic Centre. Mr M'Kcrnan dealt with 440 and BSO yards running, and gave a very lucid and comprehensive talk on the subject. Ho criticised constructively the action of several runners present. The field event men were thou treated to a demonstration of pole vaulting by W. W. Burridgc, while Mr R. 0. Johnson explained in detail the various stages of the vault. Following the evening sports meeting to-morrow, a lecture will be given at the Caledonian Ground by Dr Allan on athletics from a medical point of view.
