PERSONAL Captain N. Hasard, harbour master at Bluff, who visited Port Chalmers at the week-end in connection with the docking of the tug Awarua, returned to Bluff on Monday.

MODEL YACHT RACING

A very enthusiastic meeting of parents and boys interested in the formation of a model yacht club was held in the Port Chalmers Yacht Club’s boatshed.on Monday evening. About 60 were presentThe commodore (Mr H. Camp'' spoke especially to the boys, and said that out of little great things grew. He mentioned that Lieutenant-commander Sanders, V.C., as a New Zealand lad, rose from model yachting to a great man, and distinguished himself as a result of his yachting training. To-day his name was perpetuated by the Sanders Cup interprovincial races. , The commodore said that if the boys played the game and persevered success was assured, and they might in the near future perform some great achievement and represent their province, either in the Cornwell Cup,. Sanders Cup contests, or other classes that might eventuate. Over 30 model yachts were accounted for, which indicates that keen competitions will be seen this season. November 25 was set aside as the opening day for the model yacht branch, and dinghy rowing and sailing races will also be held. The Mayor (Mr J. Watson), the Port Chalmers Band, parents, and representatives of other clubs will be invited to be present.
