There was a very large attendance of officers and members attending the Silver Star Temple on Wednesday evening in the Radiant Hall, with C.T. Sis. Phyllis Racklcy in the chair, and Sis. Mrs Rayner, superintendent, was in charge. Three candidates were initiated into the Temple. The judges for the initiation competition, the Rev Bro. Fish and Bro. Dalton, paid the temple a surprise visit to judge the competition, after which Bro. Fish, Bro. Dalton, and Bro. Hilton, D.J.W., addressed the members. The class conducted by Misa Hanna is making good progress in club-swinging and physical exercises. Superintendents with a number of members attended the anniversary of the Star of the South Temple on Friday evening. Correspondence was received from Bro. Pace, G.S.J.W., of Auckland, conveying the greetings from the various temples. Bro. Eddie Rowe and Bro. Noel M'Callion gave recitations. Perhaps the world’s record for shorthand writing is held by Mr Lewis, of Johannesburg. Throughout one session of the Boundaries Commission, he averaged 178 words a minute throughout one whole day. During the last 48 minutes, he recorded 9337 words, or an average of 198 i a minute. Kaitangata Coal has been reduced in price. Why not have the best?—Advt.
