“THE DAUGHTER OF JAIRUS”

After the conclusion of the evening service at the Hanover Street Baptist Church on Sunday, the church choir, assisted by Messrs Begg and Co.’s orchestra, under the baton of Mr James Simpson, rendered the cantata, “The Daughter of Jairus,” by Sir John Stainer. Mrs Ewart, L.A.8., treated her several recitatives with true intonation, and her duet with Mr A. Wahnsley, “ Love Divine All Love Excelling,” was one of the outstanding numbers of the evening. Mr Alfred Wahnsley was perfectly at home in this work. The bass recitatives were taken by Mr E. TL Benton, and the choir treated its numbers with confidence.
