“CAMPING DAYS”

The recent transfer of Mr T. V. Griffiths from Christchurch Training College to the staff of the Dunedin Technical High School has infuse'd new life into musical and dramatic work in the local school. As a writer of witty libretto and as composer of captivating songs, no less than as conductor of orchestra and band, he has already brought delight to the audiences that saw his operetta "Pirate Gold ” a few months ago. The next programme, to be performer in the Burt Hall to-morrow and on Thursday of this week will consist wholly .of another operetta of his—“ Camping Days”— which was written in Christchurch specially for New Zealand boys and girls. Incidental music, also by Mr Griffiths, will be rendered by the school military band and orchestra. As is usual in technical schools, all scenery and stage properties, and practically all costumes, have been made in the school, Performances of this kind are of unusual public interest, in that the programme is entirely “ made in New Zealand,” and the standard indicates what can be done, under skilled training, by ordinary boys and girls with neither more nor less than average “musical ability.
