PALMERSTON NOTES

(From Oub Own Cobbespondent.) PALMERSTON, October 13. BOWLING., A meeting of members of the Palmerston Bowling Club was held in the club’s pavilion last night, Mr John Stewart presiding over a fair attendance of members. Many new members were elected, and Mr W. H. Hopkins was an. hon. member. Invitations were received to the openings of the Hampden, Oamaru, Phoenix, Kaituna, and Meadowbank Clubs. A letter was received from the secretary of the Dunedin Centre in connection with the centre’s invitation to the Seacliff Club to play in the Dunedin competition, stating that Seacliff was affiliated with that body, and that there was no intion to spoil the games locally.—Received. The Hampden Club wrote stating it wag desirous of holding a conference with a view to amending the rules of the'Matheson Rose Bowl and Galloway Cup competitions; and wrote to Palmerston as the starter of both. —It was decided to hold a conference with three delegates from each club, Hampden, Waikouaiti, and Seacliff to be notified to this effect. Messrs W. Mann, J. J. Haggle, and W. J. A. M'Kem ney, jun., were appointed delegates from the Palmerston Club. It was stated that the Banner Competition would be conducted as last year, playing evening games with Waikouaiti. Account* amounting to £ll 4s 3id were passed for payment. After discussion it was decided to open the green on October 21.
