EXERCISES IN COOK STRAIT END OF VISIT IN SIGHT. (Peb United Peess Association.) WELLINGTON, September 27. Beautiful conditions prevailed to-day for the departure of the Australian cruisers, the Canberra and the Australia. The Diomede, which, in company with the Dunedin, will carry out combined exercises with the Canberra and. the Australia in Cook Strait, left Wellington at 1.42 p.m. The Dunedin left Wellington on Saturday morning for Picton, and met the Diomede in Cook Strait, practice firing being undertaken by the Australian cruisers. At 5.50 p.m. they engaged with the Dunedin and the Diomede in strategical exercises. The exercises will probably be concluded at mid-day to-morrow, and the Australian ships will then leave ©n their return trip to Australia.
