COLLAPSE AT WORK - - .' w ■ 1 J.r,■ ■ : ;' : The' inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the death of Niels Pe||r Verngreen, aged 67, who collapsed in Neidpath road, Mornington, on Monday morning was concluded yesterday; Mr H. W. Bundle, S.M., presided as coroner, and Sergeant Vaughan represented the police. Constable Brown, of Mornington, said that the deceased was a foreman in charge of a relief gang working in Neidpath road. He was standing on the opposite side of the road to where the men were ■ working, and when a motor car passed he was seen to jump suddenly on to the footpath. After the car had pased he crossed the road and suddenly collapsed. He was dead before Dr Iveracb arrived. Witness added that he found no marks of violence on the body. Dr Evans gave evidence that he found no sign of injury on the body. Prom the previous history of the deceased and his examination of the body he was of the qpinion that death was caused by syncope following occlusion of the arteries. This was a form of heart trouble that would occur independently of exertion.

A verdict in accordance with the medi cal evidence was returned.

FATAL FALL FROM BRIDGE (Peg United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 26. Fatal injuries were received by a retired farmer named Allan John Ross, aged 64, as'; a result of a fall from an overhead bridge in Mount Eden early this morning. Ross, who was single, was sitting on the bridge rail when hq, lost his balance, falling heavily to the lawn near the .railway line below. At the inquest Sylvia Bradeock,' aged 11, said she was standing outside her home, when she saw a man sitting on the rail of the bridge facing the road. He was rolling, a cigarette when his hat was blown backward. The man turned .around in an attempt to catch Ms hat and over-balanced, falling off the rail to the section below. The inquest was adjourned!
