Colonel Roscoe Turner broke the west to east transcontinental speed record by ISJmin, negotiating the distance from Burbank (Califoria) to the Floyd Bennett Field (New York);, a distance of 2520 miles, in lOhr sJmin. Colonel Turner flew a 900 h.p. lowwing monoplane, his top speed being 316 miles an hour. '
