The latest Canadian census figures reveal the fact that out of the total, dominion population of 10,376,786, there are only 5,381,071 people of British stock. It is true that the British Canadians are itil) in a majority. They constitute 51.86 per cent, of the total population, but this compares with 55.40 per cent. 10 years ago, and 57.3 per cent, at the beginning of the century. At this rate the numerical preponderance of the British elements will soon disappear. It is interesting to note how the dominion's percentage of British stock is made up. There are just over twice as many Englishmen as Scots, and 13 of the latter to every 12 Irishmen.
