The result was a tie.,between Rifleman 0. A. M'Nish and Rifleman J. F. Moodie, the former winning on the shoot off. Following are the highest aggregates: —

WEST TAIERI DEFENCE CLUB. The new departure for the West Taieri Defence Rifle Club of having Ladies' Day *t the beginning of the season proved to be a pronounced success on Saturday, when there were some 50 people present. President A. T. Graham welcomed all present, and thanked Deputy-president H. W. Brooke's ,'io"r his good work in making improvements to the range. The conditions for Mrs Brookes's trophies were 10 shots at 500 yards, the four highest to shoot off a further 10 shots at the same distance,'and-the second'trophy was for the highest score by a new member. Mr-Viney's trophy was for the lady drawing the rifleman winning this competition, and was won by Mrs Duncan, who 'drew President A. T- Graham, and the second trophy was won by Miss D- Welch, who drew Rifleman J. Dickie, the winner of the competition for new .members. The following are the detailed results:— Pres. A; T., Graham 48, Rifleman B. Duff 47, Rifleman D. Ashley 47. Rifleman E. Fraser 46. Deputy-president H. W. Brookes 46. Rifleman J. E. Dow 45, Rifleman W. J. Irving 44, Rifleman L. T. Hughes 44, Rifleman J. Dickie 44. Rifleman D. G. Wyllie 43, Rifleman R. M'Donaid 43, Rifleman A. Fraser 43, Rifleman L. Bell 42, Rifleman A. Forbes S 7, Rifleman J. Shaw 35, Rifleman R. Viney 33, Rifleman J. Forbes 33, Rifleman G. Docherty 31, Rifleman W. Marshall 29, Rifleman A. Colhoun 28, Rifleman Harrison 24, Rifleman A. Y. Hendry 23; In a good schoot off the result was in doubt until the. last shot was fired, both Rifleman B. Duff and President A. T. Graham securing 49, with a 7 and 4 bull finish respectively.
