FORESTERS. The quarterly summoned meeting of Court Enterprise was held on Tuesday evening last. C.R. Bro. G. Edwards presided. A letter was received from Court Blbomfield, Wellington, congratulating Court Enterprise on attaining its seventieth anniversary. One candidate was initiated into the Order.- Two more candidates were nominated for next court night. The following officers were elected to the various chairs:—C.R., Bro. Ivan Miller; S.C.R., Bro. Steele: treasurer, P.C.R. Bro. A. M'Leod; secretary, P.C.R. Bro. W. Hodge; S.W., Bro. J. Dey; J.W., P.C.R. Bro. J. Patton; 5.8., Bro H W. Patton; J. B. Bro. Hughan; minute secretary, P.C.R. Rro. S. B. Buttell; trustee, P.C.R. Bro. E. Johnson; auditors—Bros. Melville and Henderson. The newlyelected C. R., Bro. I. Miller, gave the " Fallen Soldiers'" toast in a very impressive manner. P.C.R. Bro. Craig presented a trophy to the court for competition. It was decided to present I.P.C.R. Bro. S. Johnson with the usual honours, and that his name be placed on the respect board. DRUIDISM. The regular meeting of Enterprise .Lodge was held last Wednesday, when A.D. Bro. W. Brown was greeted with a large attendance of members. The bards' report disclosed that a fair amount of sickness prevailed amongst the members, and sick pay amounting to £lB was passed for payment. West Harbour Lodge wrote extending an invitation for two delegates to attend the jubilee meeting,, and A.D. Bro. W. Brown and A.D. Bro. A. T. Workmna were elected to represent the lodge. During the evening one candidate, was admitted. A vacancy having' occurred on the executive of Southern Oak Juvenile Lodge, Bro. D. Densem was elected. ArchDruid Bro. H. Hunt, accompanied by his officers and members, paid an official visit for the purpose of playing for the Euchre Shield, and, after a very enjoyable game, Enterprise Lodge proved the winners by 17 games to 9. The visitors of the evening were officers and members of Royal Oak Lodge. » . The lodges of Nos. 1 and 2 Districts held a combined evening last Tuesday at the Embassy Salon with the object of entertaining the unemployed members f rom_ the several branches whose social activities are somewhat limited through adverse circumstances. An energetic committee was in charge of the arrangements, and Bro. E. H. Bezett took the chair, accompanied bv G.S. Bro. W. B. Steel, G.G. Bro. H. Hunt, and D.P. Bro. R. Morris. Community singing, under the leadership of Bro. A. R. Rankin, was indulged in. Bro. J. Paterson, comedian, rendered several numbers in his inimitable style, and solos were given'by Bros. Couch and Burt. Bro. Hunt gave a humorous reading. Bro. Couch also acted as pianist. An address was given by G. , Sec. Bro. Steel, who took as his text the society's motto, "United to assist," and pointed out during, his remarks that assistance was the outcome of each and every member assisting himself. Self-sacrifice and perseverance coupled with the determination to do better, would ultimately bring its reward. The Lily of the Valley Lodge held its usual meeting, A.D'. Bro. Winter presiding over a good attendance. The» general efficiency fudges, D.P. Bro. Bezett and P.A. Bro. Maslin, wer,e present, and au_ofhcial visit was received from the D.P. Brq. K. Morris. Visitors included A.D. Bro. Morrison and P.A. Bro. Jenkins (Linden), P.A. Bro, Manning (Otago). A fair amount of correspondence and sick pay was dealt with, the number of brethren on the list being normal. An invitation for two representatives to attend West Harbour on the jubilee night caused a ballot to be taken, and Bros Green, M.C., and P.A Bro. M'Bratney were elected, ihe Otago Lodge requested Lily members to attend at next meeting. A mock initiation ceremony for the benefit of the judges was carried out by the officers. Supper was handed round by the stewards, afterwards the toasts were honoured by the judges and visitors. Members were reminded that the Linden and West Harbour members, with lady friends, would be present next meeting. The lodge closed at a late hour. ■;• . . Hard-up night was celebrated in Linden Lodge last lodge night, when A.D. Bro. Neason presided. Correspondence was received from West Harbour Lodge regarding its jubilee, and from Mistletoe. Delegates A.D. and V.A. were appointed to attend. A.D. Bro. Robertson, accompanied by his officers from Pride of Mornington, received a warm welcome. One member was admitted on clearance from another lodge.. The evening was spent in harmony. ■','•"'.: . -'ii. Mistletoe Lodge celebrated its tenth anniversary at St. Mark's Hall, Green Island, on Tuesday last. The business meeting began early, A.D. Bro. D. Abererombie presiding over a large muster ot members. Correspondence included a letter from the secretary of the Parade Committee stating that the next combined church parade of the Mayor,, councillors, band, and friendly societies would be held at St. Mark's Church, Green Island. The lodge decided to attend officially. Sick pay amounting to £4 was passed for payment. The remaining routine business was quickly despatched and the hall cleared to receive a host of visitors from sister lodges, who had arrived to take part in the birthday -celebrations.' Messrs _J. Bulger, T. Law, A. K. Law, and led Heaney provided music for a -dance; Items were contributed by the following artists:—Mr W. J. White (charcater Fongs), Mr H. Bell (Scottish song ami monoogue). Ivanno Lodge, No. 17, was held in the Manchester Unity Chambers, Stuart street, on Wednesday last, when A.D. Bro. Spinner was greeted with a large attendance of members and visitors. Amongst the correspondence was an invitation from West Harbour Lodge for two delegates to attend the jubilee celebrations. The bards reported on their visit to sick members, and sick pay was passed for payment. Ine syllabus as drawn up by the commitee for 1934 was accepted. D.P. Bro. Morns, of No. 1 District, attended officially.. 1-ae secretary reported on the committee meeting for a combined "free-and-easy night for unempoyed membrs. A.D. Bro. Sheppard and officers and members ot Otago Lodge attended for. the purpose of playing Ivanhoe Lodge for the cnbbage shield. The games resulted in a win tor the visitors by 18 games to 16. Alter supper had been handed round, R.A.JJ. Bro. Rundle presented the shield to A.D. Bro. Sheppard, who suitably replied, ine lodge was also favoured with a visit from West Harbour Lodge. Lily of the Valley, Enterprise, Rose of Palmerston, ana Royal Oak Lodges. ' •'." A.D. Bro. Bradshaw presided over a good attendance at the Olive Branch Juvenile Lodge. The only correspondence was a letter from the secretary, ?.&■*■ Bro. Thompson, asking for the lodge a syllabus for the Booklet Committee. _No sick members were' reported. A.U. tiro. Macfarlane, Southern Oak, accompanied bv a member, were visitors. The election of officers for the current term took place. These were approved by the executive. Superintendent Bro. Morris for some considerable'time instructed the members on the working of the ballot by marbles The installation of officers will take place next meeting. Regret was expressed at the non-appearance of the .efficiency judges. The lodge adjourned after minor details had been attended to. RECHABITES. The fifty-seventh anniversary of the Hope of Dunedin Tent, which was held in the Embassy Salon on Monday evenin", was a decided success. Ihe entertainment included dancing and games ot various descriptions. The guest ot the evening was D.C.R. Bro. Baseand, who, after receiving a welcome by C.R bro. R. N. Watson, briefly addressed Cue gathering and urged the members to aim at a high membership mark to celebrate the tent's diamond jubilee three years hence. Messages of congratulation were received from the district secretary, and from P.C.R. Bro. F. E. Davis. The annual report by the secretary (Bro. A. V. Gain) disclosed the fact that the tents funds were in a very satisfactory state and that, despite the depression, there was an increase of membership for the year. The sisters of the tent created a good deal of amusement by acting a charade in a very efficient manner and other items were solos rendered by Sis. Estelle Burnard and Mr Wilson. During the evening the D.C.R. presented a past chief ruler's emblem and a P.C.R. collar to bis. E. Parkinson and A. Hill respectively, the recipients suitably replying. On Tuesday evening D.C.R. Bro. Bascand met the officers of the Otago Provincial Council aud , discussed several matters of interest and importance bearing on the progress of th« Order. The

C.R., Bro. Baseand who, during hi» short stay in Dunedin, was the guests of Bro. and Sis. A. V. Gain, travelled to Invercargill on Wednesday morning to complete his southern tour. The Primrose Juvenile Tent was officially visited on Monday evening by the D.C.R.. Bro. Baseand, and D.G. Bro. A. V. Gain. The juveniles listened with interest to the information imparted by the D.C.R., who was impressed with the good behaviour of the members and the high efficiency of the officers. The fortnightly meeting of" the Star of the South Tent was held on Wednesday, C.R. Sis. P; Smith presiding over a good attendance of members. Three new members were initiated and welcomed into the Order. The Anniversary Committee reported on the progress of the arrangements for that function. An invitation was received from Hope of Dunedin Tent to its anniversary social on the following Monday evening, arid the C.R. asked members to endeavour ■to attend this 'function, at which the D.C.R., Bro. Baseand, was to be present. A communication was read with reference to the formation of a Rechabite basket ball team, many sisters expressing their willingness to support the project. The election of representatives to the Provincial Council for the ensuing term resulted as follows:—Sis. Fraser and Rea, and Bro. Olsen. An indoor bowling tournament occupied the social period, and caused considerable amusement, Bro. W. R. Olsen being declared the winner. The fortnightly meeting of the Rising Star Juvenile Tent took the form of a social gathering. The guests of the. evening—the superintendents and members of the Primrose Juvenile Tent—were accorded a welcome. The C.R. also welcomed the P.S.J.T., Sis. M. Benfell, who was present in her official capacity for the purpose of presenting the. Primrose Shield to the Rising Star Tent. After congratulating the tent on having won this trophy for the third year_ in succession. Sis. Benfell handed the shield to the C.R. on behalf of the Tent. Bro. Lapsley suit-ably replied, expressing the hope that another tent would have the honour of initiating the largest number of new members for the current period and so be successful in winning the shield.. MANCHESTER UNITY. At ' the fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Centenary Lodge, held on Monday evening, there was a good attendance of members, N.G. Bro. W. M'Allan presiding. A number of sister lodges were represented by visiting brethren, the Loyal Albino Lodge making a full. official visit. The N.G., G.M. Bro. Norman, and P.G. Bro. Peake were appointed delegates to the half-yearly district meeting on September 29. The N.G. of the Loyal Valley Lodge announced that his lodge would hold a jubilee church parade to which sister lodges were invited and also outlined a number of other functions to be held in connection with the jubilee. After business had been dealt with, the evening .was in charge of the lodge trustees —Bros. Boardman, Bell, and Palmer—who entertained members at a card tournament. After an interesting evening at progressive whist, two members tied for the prize, which was ultimately won by Bro. J. Brooks. : . " '■''.. The Loyal Caversham Lodge met in the Oddfellows' Hall, Forbury Corner, on. Wednesday evening. N.G, Bro. G. Stevenson presided, and the large attendance included many visiting brethren., Included in the correspondence were requests from outside lodges for visits from the Caviersham Lodge. The secretary of the Southland district (Bro. A. B. Edmonds) wrote stating that a meeting in Invercargill decided to extend an invitation to the Caversham Lodge in conjunction with the Princess'Mary Lodge to visit the southern lodges. The matter- was referred to a committee' of elective officers to. confer with the officers of- the Princess Mary Lodge. The Prince Alfred (Waikouaiti) Lodge also wrote requesting a visit from Caversham Lodge. Arrangements' were made for the official visit to Mosgiel on October 3'. One new member was initiated. Members were later the guests of the trustees at a card evening, when the prize winners were P.G. Bro. M'Kenzie and P.P.G.M. Bro. Stokes. The quarterly meeting of Loyal Mosgiel Lodge was held on Tuesday evening, N.G. Bro. W. Roberts occupying the chair. Three propositions for membership Avere received. The following delegates .were appointed to attend the district meeting: —P.G.'s Bros. A. Cameron, E. Lyall, H. Irving, J. Thomson, and' Elective Secretary Bro. A. Chadwick. The Mayor of Mosgiel wrote thanking the lodge for i-s donation of the proceeds of the annual ball to the Mayor's Relief Fund. Arrangements were completed for the.annual visit- from sister lodges next lodge night and for the football match against the Loyal Caversham Lodge at Mosgiel. •'■■; The Loyal Tuapeka'Pioneer LodKe celebrated its sixty-eighth anniversary at Lawrence on September 13 in St. Patricks Hall. For some time an active committee had been making arrangements for-the function, which took the form of a ball, and its efforts were rewarded by a large attendance of members: and friends. Mr W. and Miss Fahey supplied the music, and Mr H. Sutherland officiated as M.C. At the supper interval the N.G.,'Bro. l«. Gray, acknowledged the thanks ot toe lodge to the Rev. Father Scanlan. forthe use of the hall, and also thanked all those who had attended and helped to make the evening a success. In addition to members of the local lodge, visitors, were present from the Loyal Valley Maniototo, Milton, and Star of Tuapeka Lodges. At the quarterly summoned meeting of tne lodge, held on Tuesday evening, three delegates were appointed to represent the lodge at the half-yearly district meeting at Dunedin. The business paper was dealt with, and the delegates received a free hand. ■ . , ■_• - -, At the fortnightly meeting of Loyal Albion Lodge, held on Thursday evening, NG Bro. Anderson presided. Ihe principal business of the evening was a', discussion on the remits for the forthcoming district meeting. .In dealing with these, Bro P. •W. Stabb gave an interesting account of the recent negotiations with the registrar of friendly societies regarding the allocation of surplus iunds. A letter was received from, P.G. Bro. H. u. Redman, now residing at Adelaide, who for many years was an active officer, m the lodge. Bro. Redman stated that he contemplated visiting Dunedin, and hoped to be present at the meeting on November 2. During the evening one proposition for membership was received.
