(From Our. Special Reporter.) TIMARU, September 23. The Geraldine meeting concluded in fine but very cold weather after the card opened in brilliant sunshine. There was a large attendance. Davalo then " dropped from the clouds," and coming from the back with a strong and well-sustained run, got up to win by a length from Cleaner. Cherry Queen was the same distance away, with Bright Red and Donalda next. " Social Pest was taken out of the Domain Trot. Wee Wrack started favourite and stood on the mark with Agile, Chudic, and Collene Parrish. Spoon put in a challenge, but Ranelagh stalled her off and won by a short length. Chrysology finished two lengths away, and Charmaine next, another length away. The scratching pen robbed the Gladstone Handicap of considerable interest, as Manetho, Gaysome, and Top Rank were taken out. Royal Amphora soon drew to a four-length lead,: and was followed by Niggerhead and Grand Review, with Gilpit last. Royal Amphora was still well clear when coming round, the top from Grand Review and Niggerhead. They finally got away to a bumping start, in which Dooley nearly got knocked off Grand Finale. A good recovery was made, but it cost six or seven lengths. Eupator. Fleeting Glance, Doiran, Elude, and'Top Rank were fighting/ for leadership as they left the straight, and in the back June the Third momentarily appeared in front, but got sent back last. Grand Finale was gradually making up ground, and got to the leaders as they turned for home. Grand Finale then came away and won by a length from St. Joan, who outstayed Doiran and beat him by a neck. Eupator was close up, fourth. Grand Finale would have been unlucky to. miss a win, and rather too much use appeared to have been' made with Doiran.
