Little, the president of the Windsor Club, extended a welcome to those present and called upon Miss Taylor to present the cups to the winners and the buttons to the runners-up of the two grades. Miss Taylor also thanked the North Otago Ladies' Hockey Association for its support and.- the Referees' Association for its assistance in supplying referees for the tournament. Mr H. ,W. ATHLETIC FOOTBALL CLUB There Was a large attendance of members and supporters at the annual reunion of the Athletic - Football Club on Saturday night, the chair being occupied by the president (Mr D. Burns). The function was equally successful as those held in previous years, and there was a good representation of sisters clubs, referees, and administrators of Rugby in North Otago, to whom a very cordial welcome was extended by the chairman. With the near, approach of the chib's fiftieth anniversary, it. was pleasing to see present Messrs M. Connolly and W. Couper, two of the foundation members of the club,' who joined in 1886, in which year the club affiliated with the Otago Rugby Union. These old members gave many interesting anecdotes and : reminiscences Of the early days of Rugby in North Otago, Mr Connolly especially. referring to the practice of a line umpire holding up his flag if a breach occurred; in which case the referee pleased himself whether he blew the whistle, but if both umpires held up their .flags the referee had to. However, added Mr Connolly, they had a lot of fun, and the young players of to-day owed a great deal to the, spade work done, by the old players., In this connection Mr C, Taylor (patron), added ■his. meed of appreciation to the old supporters of the club, mentioning in parr ticular the great support given to the club by" Messrs A. Tait and W. G. Adamson."'■ The presentation of the union trophies was made by the president of the Rugby Union (Mr H. E. Wedde), the Burns Shield for the Junior Competition, and'the Ralph Cup for the Junior Knockout Competition, being-accepted by Mr R. The announcement of the ; excellent game played at Wellington by North OtagO's first representative in a South Island team . (J. It was considered by several speakers that the criticism levelled against his selection by certain critics and writers before the match was ungenerous. The toast. list honoured was as follows:—"The King"; "North Otago Rugby, Union," Mr.M. F. Cooney-Mr E. O. .Martin; "North Otago Referees' Association," Mr J. Falloon-Mr J. Airev;.
