MATCH IN AUCKLAND. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 23. In a splendid game of League football at Carl aw Park to-day, the St. George team (Sydney) defeated Devonport, the local champions, by 19 points to 8. The conditions were excellent and there was an attendance of 12,000. The visitors' backs were brilliant on attack, but the Devonport forwards outplayed the opposition in the second spell. A feature of the match was the hard tackling of the local team. The game was played at a fast pace and was always interesting. LINWOOD DEFEATS HORNBY. (Per United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, September 23. Linwood beat Hornby by 18 points to 5.
