PATTERSON DEFEATS VARGA. ,i (Per United Press Association.) NEW PLYMOUTH, September 24. Jack Patterson Avas responsible for a surprise defeat of Count Varga in a rather poor bout. Thunderbolts, cuffs, and slaps were freely interspersed with the wrestling, which otherwise was hard but not brilliant. Varga gained a fall in the third round with headlocks. Patterson evened in the fourth with a spin and dump, and in the seventh he gained a fall with headlocks and a press.
