MORNINGTON PRESBYTERIANS

PARENTS’ LEAGUE. The monthly meeting of the Mornington Presbyterian Parents’ League was held in the church hall, which was well filled. The speaker for the evening was Dr Turner, lecturer on geology at the Otago University. The lecturer chose for his subject “ Southernmost Westland,” which he described as a wild and rugged country, known Only ■to the scientist and a few intrepid trampers. By a series of excellent slides, Dr Turner took his audience into the valleys, across the rivers, and over the mountains of that little-known region. The route followed was that undertaken by the lecturer and party some four years ago. From the head of Lake Wanaka the route over the pass to the Haast River was followed. The valley of the Haast then led to the coast, from which point the lecturer turned south and penetrated to the Red Hill region. In the course of his lecture Dr Turner dealt humorously with the many strange experiences encountered.': . A vote of thanks was accorded Dr Turner at the conclusion of his address.
