PALMERSTON NOTES
(From Our Own Correspondent.) PALMERSTON, September 22. A STIFF CLIMB. The steep and difficult climb to the top of Mount Puketapu was accomplished by Mr L. K. Kerse on a motor cycle yesterday afternoon. The track used by the carter _ when the Sir John M‘Kenzie Memorial was being built on the summit is now strewn with boulders, and tho motor cyclist fell off several times, but remounted and eventually reached the top. ARDLEIGH GOLF CLUB. The lady members of the Ardleigh Golf Club played a medal match yesterday afternoon in fine weather. Miss Galbraith was the winner with a score of 52, Mrs I. Willoughby and Miss L. Larnaeh coming second equal with 63, and Miss B. Thomas next with 65. SWIMMING SEASON OPENS. The swimming season here was opened last Saturday evening, when two youths entered the sea from the beach at Anderson’s Lagoon.
