SEARCH FOR DEAD SON

The mother of a Munich student who was buried under an avalanche in Tirol on February 12 has recovered his body after digging for 40 consecutive days. As helpers she hired a ski instructor and eight men of the Volunteer Labour Corps. Three avalanches had in turn to be dug away. The lowest was 1300 yards long and 270 yards wide. ■ The mother was anxious that the body should not be borne out by the glacier stream, an’d a wooden grid was sunk to prevent this. She had given orders that no one but herself was to uncover the body when it was found.
