Four people were injured by a mysterious bomb explosion in the portico of St. Peter’s, Rome, recently. The bomb was concealed in a parcel left in the cloakroom by a peasant pilgrim, it being the rule that packages must not be taken into the church. The injured were entering the church at the moment of the explosion. When the Pope heard of the explosion he sent two secretaries _to the hospital to make inquiries regarding the wounded and give them hia blessing.
