(Feom Our Own Correspondent.) KUROW, September 21. COURT SITTING. A sitting of the Kurow Police Court was held on Tuesday before Messrs J. L. 1 M'Phail, J.P V and R. H. Appleby, J.P. George Noel Somerville, a labourer, aged, 21 years, was charged with theft at Waitaki Hydro of two knives, valued at 2s Id, the property of Forrester Adams.—The accused phaded guilty and was convicted and fined 10s, the property to be restored to the owner. OTIAKI DANCE. An enjoyable and well-patronised dance was held in the Otiaki Hall on Wednesday evening. Mr Taylor carrying out the duties of M.C. The dance music was supplied by ■'•Mrs T. M'Gimpsey, Messrs J. Richardson and E. Russell, extras being played by Misses N. Nye and L. Tyrell, Mr R. Neill and Piper J. Curie, The following novelties were presented: —Monte Carlo waltz, Miss N. Smootby and Mr D. Russell 1: lucky spot waltz, Mrs M. Mulvena and Mr J. Mulvena 1, Miss J. Russell and Mrs E. Harris and Mr A. Nye and partner 2. PERSONAL. At a special meeting of the Waitaki Hydro Ladies’ Hockey Club on Wednesday evening motions of sympathy were passed Sir T. Parsons in the loss of his father, and Mr A. Dunstan in the death ©f his mother. WOOL CRAFT CIRCLE. On Monday afternoon Messrs R. R. Beauchamp and B. Wingfield, of the Lake Tekapo district, who paid a visit to Waitaki Hydro to ascertain if any of the members of the circle would take up hand spinning and weaving, delivered a very interesting and instructive lecture and demonstration accompanied by some very fine examples of hand-woven cloth which covered a wide range together with a demonstration of the use of a small loom for making scarves, etc. During the afternoon the circle presented Mrs W. A. Johnson with a set of Doulton china. Mrs Watkins, in making the presentation, referred to Mrs Johnson's good work since the inception of the circle.. Mrs Johnson suitably replied. ■; .
