(From Our Own Correspondent.) PURAKANUI, September 20. LAWN TENNIS. The annual meeting of the Purakanui Lawn Tennis Club was held in the school last evening, when Miss Foote presided over a fair attendance. The club’s financial statement showed a credit balance of over f(i. The officers for the ensuing year were elected as follows:—President, Mr J. M'Lachlan; vice-president, Miss G. Foote; secretary, Mr D, Elliott; committee —Miss Whitty, Miss G. Driver, Messrs R. Larkins and D. M’Lachlan. The opening date was fixed for October 14. PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. At present members of the congregation of the Presbyterian Church are busy cleaning and painting the building in view of the diamond jubilee celebrations, to be held here early in October.
