Houseboat Village is the new name for Kirkham Abbey, a Yorkshire holiday centre, where those in search of the "simple life" are livinjz in houseboats of various sizes and shapes on the River Derwent. Several enthusiasts have made their own boats, where they live, sleep, and eat. Some, travel backwards and forwards to business in York and Leeds daily from their home-made river residences. Good business is also being done in the letting of houseboat, replete with every modern convenience, even if on a miniature scale.
