LOCAL BODY HISTORY

TO THE EDITOR.

Sib, —As one of the "friends" present at last night's meeting of the New Zealand Legion, I wish to express my very great appreciation of the magnificent address delivered by Dr Hereus on the working of the old provincial system and the growth of local body government in this country. A fascinating subject, brilliantly treated, kept his audience deeply interested from start to finish, and many would welcome the opportunity in the near future of hearing much more in the same strain, I enclose £l, which I ivould ask you to be good enough to forward to the local secretary of the legion—l am, etc., lunctURUS. September 20.

[The sum enclosed in the above letter will be handed to the secretary of the legion.— Ed., O.D.T.]
