(From Oub Own Correspondent.) ALEXANDRA, September 20. EXCELSIOR CRICKET CLUB. The annual meeting of the Excelsior Cricket Club was held on September 18. the president, Mr C. Rogers, presiding over an excellent attendance. The annual report showed that from a-playing point of view the club had experienced a successful season with a record of 32 matches played, and the accounts disclosed a satisfactory state of affairs. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patron, Dr A. E. Gladstone; president, Mr W. R. Lloyd William-*; vice-presi-dents —Messrs A. E. Marslin, H. Munro and G. Rogers; secretary and treasurer, Mr C. F. B. Nightingale; auditor, Mr J. C, Cowie; practice captain, Mr C. F. B. Nightingale; selectors—Messrs W. 11. King, J. C. Cowie and the team captain ; coach, Mr J. C. Cowie; committee —Messrs J. C. Cowie, R. Jack, J. Less, N. Kinnaird, W. H. King, J. Munro and C. Rogers; official scorers, Messrs J. T. Downes and R. Jack; delegates to sub-union, Messrs C. Rogers and C. F. B. Nightingale; delegates to Reserves Committee —Messrs W. 11. Lloyd Williams and C. Rogers. Trophies presented by Messrs Walter Strang, Ltd., and awarded to Messrs J. C. Cowie and V. A. Fenwick, the two best all-round cricketers of last season, were presented by Dr Gladstone. A proposal to link up with a sports league or council was, not favourably received and it was decided that the club should carry on independently. At the conclusion of the meeting Mr J. C. Cowie, on behalf of the club members, presented Mr Nightingale with a fountain pen in recognition of his services as secretary. PERSONAL. Mr Clarence Paine, who has been in Central Otago fulfilling engagements at the Alexandra and Cromwell Plunkct Societies’ concerts, returned to Dunedin to-day. Mr B. Toomey, of the Waimate postal staff, who has been on a visit to Alexandra. left for his home yesterday.
