THE “TRUCK SYSTEM” AUCKLAND HARBOUR BOARD. CONCERNED. (Per United Press Association.) AUCKLAND, September 19. The Auckland Harbour Board has adopted the following resolution: —“ That this board views with grave concern the Railways Board’s action in instituting the ‘ truck system,’ thereby undercutting the freight rates between coastal ports, and strongly urges the executives of the Harbours Association and the Shipowners’ Federation to press for a conference with members of the Railways Board to discuss the railways policy with respect to shipping services and coastal ports, and failing this that the Government be asked to appoint a royal commission to inquire into railways competition.”
