BRITISH LABOUR PARTY

THE EXECUTIVE’S REPORT GOVERNMENT CRITICISED, „ LONDON, September 19. (Received Sept. 19, at 8.80 p.m.) The Labour Party Executive’s report for the October Conference compares the activity in Germany and America with “the supineness and self-satisfied stupidity ” of the British Government, which, in the face of pressing problems, is merely preaching and practising false economy and further protecting those who are living by unimaginative conservatism. The report cites the growing strength of Labour, and adds: “ Labour’s agricultural policy will promote the best use of the land under nationalisation and ensure security and efficiency for the cultivators comparative with the development of markets.” Statistics show that out of 8,368,000 trades unionists in the Trades Union Congress only 1,960,000 pay the political levy, compared with 4,859.000 in 1929.
